In Premya By Manishii

On Diwali, Divya attended a Diwali party wearing a silved sequin lehenga from Premya By Manishii. I can understand wearing this look in a music video and perhaps it would work. For a Diwali party though, it seemed so very out of place. My main issue is with that terribly designed top. Why would you put two inches between the strap and the sleeve embellishment? And don’t get me started on the choker part.

  1. Not a fan of the outfit, but wow Payal… amazing how you find your voice when it’s not an A list celebrity you’re critiquing. Given the parade of garish looks at Diwali parties over the last couple of weeks, there were plenty of opportunities to call out outfits. I guess it just wasn’t the right crowd. The sudden change in tone is jarring.

      • Payal is completely missing the point….intentionally or not. We won’t know.

So to clarify – the critique on the blog over the last 10 years is very biased towards bollywood celebrities. Even when their fashion fail is catastrophic, you breeze over or leave it at “what do you think?”.

But for the next level like Divya/ Shamita/ and you know the whos the commentary is actually to point. So why be filtered when it’s the A star list. Yup I will call out that as you know, we know.

That approach defeats the blog and its USP essence. And then appears that your verdict is a paid verdict which I don’t believe is true.

Yup… prerogative blah and blah, but then it’s a fair call out from the readers.
        Peace.

    • It’s a personal blog.. both these girls can have personal preferences and that’s okay. calling ms Khosla not an a lister is sort of funny given she and her husband’s been one of biggest producers of all time …

    • I’m glad some one called this out! I used to love this blog but lately all the reviews have been so biased.
      It’s clearly paid PR.

  2. Payal, you literally gave the entire A List a pass for their atrocious Diwali outfits. Some downright tacky and garish but didn’t see a peep of critique from you. Now all of a sudden every aspect of the top has been dissected. The lady in question doesn’t have the right surname to warrant a pass?

Agree on the fact that this is outfit not Diwali friendly.

      • Disha and Alaya – in their bra tops
Ananya – green lehenga with a bra top that looked more like push up
Bhumi – white lehenga with a bra top so tight that looked like she would soon need CPR

Pray tell how do these pass editorial scrutiny without any critique? And how are these even remotely festive? People are allowed to wear whatever they want but the whole point of this blog is to critique, isn’t it? Or are we all supposed to say “waah waah” to every A lister sighting and do the kumbaya?

      • Paris Hilton – the jumpsuit was not ‘fun’ but atrocious
Twinkle Khanna – with the tacky border
Rhea Kapoor – cheap shiny fabric
shilpa shetty – Mayyur Girortra lehenga- terrible mishmash of colors
Bhumi Pednekar -Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla had wierd designed top but not a peep
Patralekhaa- Varun Bahl lehenga-the neckpieces were so randomly put together and the top had wiers tassles near te waist

so yes ‘P’ above seems to be right

      • I’ve followed this blog since 2008, and it is my morning shot of caffeine. But quite honestly Payal, the defensiveness in your tone to some critical comments now seems jarring and shows undertones of lack of humility. This response and the one above being examples. We are all fans of the work Priyanka & you do, which is why we follow this blog & make the effort of critiquing. It’s all in good faith, wish you would take it in the right spirit too.

        • Can’t be easy being internet aunty and making a living passing comments on people’s clothes. It’s fun to read though. But yes it feels more and more cringe. We are growing but the blog ain’t

  3. Was pretty surprised to see her in this daring outfit, judging from the family she’s married into..she looks lovely neck up, but going to give that top a pass…

  4. If anyone this that she’s not an A-lister, or doesn’t have the right “surname”, they should know that she is married to one of the biggest producers- Bhushan Kumar of T-series. Also, this outfit is the most ridiculous of ALL the outfits put together.

  5. Why is Shehnaaz Gill never featured on this blog? She has done some good outfits recently. Especially in south filmfare. She has more popularly than many featured in this blog

  6. Please calm down friends, their blog their views. They can like dislike anything they feel.
I love this blog, my daily dose of fashion as I don’t follow any celebrity on any media.

Love their content clean and neat. Many blogs I used to follow some years back have become PINK caricatures of themselves – you know which one.

But this has been the same, no sold out content.

I personally love their views. Everbody has a favorite and some not so least favorite. Even we do.

They are not some news media where we expect an unbiased reporting. SO chill.

Love you Payal and Priyanka. Love your Blog.

    Nothing personal.

    Peace.

  7. Also I love to go to comment section on every post. Because some of them are the funnies best.
Like the countess of kadivili – or something.

I can’t count how many times I have spit out my morning tea, while reading the comments.

My daily dose of fashion plus humor.

  8. Not sure what you mean by “two inches between the strap and the sleeve embellishment”. Are you referring to the shoulder straps ? This looks to me like a silver-toned bralet worn underneath a sheer top that has sleeve embellishment. In fact, it looks like the sheer top is a crop-top with an unfinished hem, and the hem has been tucked under the bralet. In the second pic, it looks like the hem tuck has come loose near the left underarm.

  9. I like this blog because I don’t have to go and wade through insta pages on who wore what. But honestly I never read the the blog article itself- I do read the comments sections – it is honest and will call out some of the ridiculous clothes. The authors have some holy cows they never critique. Vidya Balan and Karishma are two of them. FYI half the Diwali crowd looked like a disco ball with over the top jewellery but they never got a negative comment like Rani Mukherji in the black kurta accessorized by a huge maang tikka and like 6 thick jadau bangles – “ I have to wear everything the jewellery store stocked up” syndrome. But other stars get comments like they should have not worn that earring or a single tiny necklace or even the shade of lipstick because the color doesn’t pop up.

    • In total agreement.. it’s us readers and our expectations that go from critical to tolerant and lenient depending on the actor’s popularity and relevance. New star- can chill
      Yesteryear- can influence in anything
Current ones- damn learn a thing or two cause you’re big enough in business to!

    • Same here. I don’t care much about what the blog authors feel about a particular celebrity’s clothing, styling, etc. I know what I like AND I like to read the comments here. I genuinely don’t care what P & P feel about anyone else’s style! Why should I? I don’t think they are “gatekeepers” of any kind. It’s their opinion, and I have mine… simple. And if they have opinions that I feel are “hypocritical,”… the question is, so what?

  10. I am sure this one won’t look good as a background movie or stage dancer costume.

    Tacky outfit and makeup.

She normally gets her Indian wear right.

  11. readers here have differing opinions from the bloggers and that’s absolutely ok and natural. but can’t stomach some of the nastiness in the comments. seriously peeps, if it doesn’t work for you, or if the bloggers’ sense of aesthetics (as demo’d in their takes on outfits) is something you hate, you *can* move on, you know, or simply stop visiting HHC. haranging them about how they didn’t write up a laudatory post on your fave star or trash another one’s outing or dissing their ‘tone’ is not going to make them change their mind! it’s really that simple.
