Sari Style
Konkona wore a paisley printed sari to an awards evening and while she looked lovely in it, the outfit as a whole felt a bit too casual for an awards event. Just me feeling that way?
Update: She is wearing her mom’s Tanchoi silk which is most definitely a weave. I stand corrected!

On the contrary, I’d like to see more of this simple elegance and individual style at glitzy events.
Yes
Its a 10/10
The eye pus and bleeding from the Ambani monstrosity called wedding has not healed Will easily take another 60 to 80 years!!
Konkona is an absolute knockout in this!!
lol, what else do you want her to wear to an awards ceremony?!
A richer weave vs this printed one.
are you sure it is printed silk? I have similar jamevar ones- will not be easy to tell from the picture-
quite right, @shm — i don’t think this is a printed saree. the fall indicates a weave.
Exactly!!
Maybe she expected a bra blouse with a skirt turned into a torn up saree turned into sharara gharara anarkali with pallu in hand with a deep slit going up to the hips??
Like the garbage Deepika Nushrat Jhanvi Navya Aishwarya wear!! Bwahaha!!
I think this is what Payal was referring to when she commented that the sari was a bit casual for the event and not what you are suggesting –

Like you mentioned a little richer saree would have been nice. A border for the saree too. Live her makeup though.
Omg love this. has a very pashmina vibe to it!
I bet she stood out in a sea of gowns (in a good way). It’s casual but memorable nonetheless.
She looks fab and event appropriate as is 🙂
I would take this over the blingy wedding and promo and other red carpet overdoses . I wish we see more of individual styles or atleast those catered to by stylists to match the individual persona .
Can you please id the saree? it’s lovely!
Payal, we have been brain wired to seeing flashing gowns, sequiny fabrics and ‘modern’ n trendy western outfits for red carpets.
We have began to forget what all our rich heritage has to offer.
She looks very elegant.
And she definitely makes a mark among the sea of dud outfits.
Keep it up, koko.
Bdw, paisley shawl gets worn as a part of wedding pheras by a lot of elder men up hills of north.
She looked absolutely lovely, in person. Her sari and jewellery and this beautiful old world charm, very reminiscent of how so many of our mothers dressed for parties.
Given that there are 20 plus Bollywood award functions in a year now, and 2 plus every month, perhaps it’s time to acknowledge that an award function is a ‘casual’ event, and dress accordingly.
This is the most honest assessment EVER!!
I will add….only Ambani wedding events exceed award show count!!!
Cannot wait for the week long “successful completion 1st week of wedding” with a made in China assembly line “couture” array of bra blouses and lehengas
This woman looks good most of the time
I respect her for having her own style and sticks to it. She is event appropriate always.
The sari has a lovely vintage look to it. These beautiful printed silks are not even easily available now, it’s all chamki, digital prints, sigh
Konkona looks lovely but I wouldn’t say I liked the jewellery or the potli or the small bindi. I do think that a black blouse would have looked better against the sari.
According to her stylist, this is a vintage mulberry silk “tanchoi” passed down from her mother. The Kundan jewellery is her grandmother’s.

While as a printed silk also this is a good look but you may want to recheck from source this looks like a rich Jamawar weave sari and nota printed on.
This looks event appropriate and also can be re-worn endlessly (which cannot be said about the tacky sequin Sarees/ lehenga etc that Bollywood seems to favor). So kudos to her.
Stunning. Elegant. Classy. A world apart from the current “norm” for Bollywood. I would not change a thing.
Her stylist has posted, saying this is her mother’s Jamevar weave, not a print. You might want to update the post, Payal.
Beat you to it already.
It’s a tanchoi saree and not a printed one!
