More From The Dubai International Film Festival

Spotted some familiar faces at the ongoing 4th Dubai International Film Festival…

Left: Akbar Khan
Right: Kabir Bedi (with Parveen Dusanj)

I don’t know what is more dismal, the fact that Akbar Khan is still promoting his movie Taj Mahal or the fact that he decided to sport a red bow tie with his tux! And then there was Mr. Bedi, who normally impeccably dressed, decided to go unconventional in non-black attire!

Does it work? You tell me…

Left: Pooja Bedi
Right: Pooja Batra

Also, spotted the two Poojas. While Pooja Bedi went with a dress, Pooja Batra donned on an anarkali. I just wish Bedi’s dress fell longer and Batra’s outfit wasn’t as busy…

Whats your verdict?

Of Yin And Yang

At the recent Channel V party for the cast of Dus Kahaneyan, one couldn’t help but notice Rituparna Sengupta (above) and Dia Mirza (below). While the former elicited a ‘what was she thinking’, the latter was a picture of easy elegance!

Gucci For UNICEF

Buy The Special Edition Indy Via Gucci

And now spending money can be just a teeny bit guilt-free!

Gucci will donate 25% of the sale from its special edition Indy large top handle bag that comes with detachable shoulder straps, tassels with bamboo detail, etc..to UNICEF.

I have never been fond of the Indy and in this avatar, even less. The GG fabric with snakeskin trim and light gold hardware comes steep at $2350 and the rosette detail with interlocking G ornament makes it even less appealing to me!

Buy The ‘Trophy’ Small Tote Via Gucci

The ‘Trophy’ Small Tote above, with its double handles, tab snap closure etc comes a little cheaper at $995 and 25% of this sale too goes to UNICEF!

On the downside, the bag comes in that same off-putting sand/ebony GG fabric and snakeskin trim, as well as that rosette detail with interlocking G ornament!

However, the cause is worthy and if your pursestrings can stretch that far (not to mention taste sensibilities), go for it. Atleast there would be no buyer’s remorse this way, the good deed done would ensure of that! 🙂

A Grecian Ode

Source

There were a lot of Grecian influences on the runways this season (in Spring/Summer 2008 collections) and the ‘Toga’ was most apparant. Why, the fashion doyenne herself, Priya Tanna, editor of Vogue India, was seen flaunting the silhouette in a Tarun Tahiliani created ensemble, few months ago at the Vogue India launch. (picture, above)

A Toga is essentially a loose flowing outer garment, which in the ancient times, was worn by Romans, usually, made of a single piece of cloth that covered the entire body leaving the right arm bare. And, most designers in their collections re-interpreted this flowing silhouette which really is a very flattering drape.

Here’s just a quick peek at different designers’, different takes…

Not So Dreamy

With so many fabulous choices out there, am not sure why “Dream girl” Hema Malini wears this sari again and again.

Both mother and daughter seem to be wearing such dowdy oufits off late. Are they saving up money for Esha’s wedding dowry? I wonder!
