Be’jewelled

Amrapali has long been a favorite of mine for those unique jewellery pieces, that you know not everyone is going to be sporting or ones of which thankfully, cheap knockoffs won’t be readily available at Janpath! While their traditional jewellery is good, I especially look to them for their contemporary designs in Gold and Silver. Those pieces while having a modern edge still manage to retain their ethnic appeal and can be wonderfully teemed with clothes that are either western or traditional. A classic example of what I am talking about is this piece, a pendant and earrings set, in Gold and Onyx which I see being worn with a Sari, a Salwar, Jeans and a tank or even with a LBD with equal aplomb.

You know, everyone does a strand of pearls, but imagine how fabulous you’d be if you did this piece in South Sea Pearls…It looks like a traditional piece in Kundan but the twist comes in with the South Sea Pearls.

And I absolutely love the earrings in silver. Again, they have that versatility which enables them to ‘go’ well with any outfit, whether western or traditional. It is casual enough to be day to day, while still leaving room for them to be worked into your nights.

Cocktail rings are all the rage: bigger they are, the more kitschy they are, the better they are. So, now imagine, if you were sporting these rings in Silver, wouldn’t that make a statement? They are unique, and like with all things old, they are so new again! I see a woman who is sure of herself, one who walks into a room to own it, totally working this ring!

What a wonderful line of jewellery. For more, go HERE.

I admit it.. I am an addict!

I am a Koffee with Karan addict. I tune in every sunday evening to watch an online version of the episode. And boy, during a summer where there isn’t any original programming, watching KWK allows me an escape from the depression I suffer on Sunday evenings. I watch it for what people are gonna wear to the show, how they are going to behave and lastly how openly will they answer the rapid fire round. The “famous” rapid fire that has fueled fire to many controversies and has started quite a few catfights, which is not a good thing. But come on, it is really funny to hear great answers to a funny series of questions like “When a star says this, he/she really means…..” or a “An actor/actress who needs a style check”.

So, last sunday, I watched the Himesh Reshammiya episode. For someone who was a Himesh hater, I now actually have respect for the guy. He was very humble, forthright and actually seemed nice. I respect him for the fact that he willingly admits that he wants to win over the people who hate him and is not one of those that can just ignore that section.

What’s goin on with our host? I am starting to get a little annoyed with KJo. His style of questioning has become more to the tune of being belligerent. Case in point, the Rakhi Sawant show, where Rakhi was trying to not answer a question about whether or not she had had plastic surgery, but Mr Karan had to constantly ask her, and finally she gave in and said “Haan, maine kiya hai”. He never dare do such a thing to his good friends or people who are established in the film society. Heck, he wouldn’t even have a show, if not for his “star” pals who keep coming back again and again. But, when it comes to a Reshammiya or a Sawant, no holds barred.

What is up with that gift hamper?? It tickles me to the core when people joke about how much they want it. Ok, I know that they are just saying it for the heck of it, but if you saw the Rakhi Sawant or the Himesh episodes, poor guys, they really felt honored to receive it!

Now, you are asking yourself, that I just said that I was addicted to KWK. Well, is anyone ever called an addict if they have too much of a good thing! HAH 😉

Stole Style

Shop Via Fabindia

Here’s a style tip.. Stoles. Stoles. Stoles. The easiest way to weather those transition months, and, what a chic way to go into Fall. Used wisely, it would compliment so many clothing choices, and is so marked for being a wardrobe staple, that is, if it isn’t already!

Throw it over jeans or little dresses to breathe some style into them and, for making a statement about you that sets you apart..and it sure doesn’t hurt to cover those bare shoulders when the nights begin to get a little nippy. I especially love the silk stoles from Fabindia with those vegetable dyes or the chiffon ones from Anokhi. They use stunning colors, the prints are beautiful and you know you can’t go wrong with those!

Shop Via Anokhi

So, cover up and drape that stole.
