Ranbir and Alia attended the wedding with Ranbir in a Manish Malhotra bandhgala kurta. Alia as an ode to the hosts wore a 160 year old Ashavali sari (a brocade weave from Ahmedabad) collected by Manish Malhotra, who then added his signature sequin border to the sari.
That sari was absolutely beautiful. I just didn’t think the beaded strapless blouse and the jewels here worked with it. Especially that maang tikka. It bordered on playing dress-up and looked costumey.

In these pictures, the ensemble looks quite beautiful. The ivory of Ranbir’s suit offsets the pink on Alia nicely.

Why is BW obsessed with ‘ bringing out the oomph in your face’ ? The woman, her saree are doing that! That blouse is so inappropriate for the saree
The blouse is a poor pick.
Plus ya Alia shud let go of tight bun hairdo… Doesn’t suit her. Jewels on Alia n Genelia were OTT even for the wedding in question.
I love the sari – this and Jyothika’s sari at this wedding are the best I have seen in a long time! But the blouse simply doesn’t go with Alia’s sari!

Is she playing Jasmine? Saree is drool worthy but it could have been styled SOOOOO much better.
