In Twos
At the Sinha-Iqbal reception, Rekha sported another chaugoshia which is becoming quite her other signature look: the primary being her in her gold kanjis. Ms. Kak also caught my eye in her farshi gharara. It was a classic look which may not be everyone’s cup of tea but I loved.

Rekha looks ethereal!
I quite like Bina Kak here – but I want to say that what she is wearing would only look good on her.
I am sorry, but I cant help imagining how gorgeous these ladies would look with subtle, understated, yet classy outfits instead of this garish OTT fest served up agan and again. Agree, its their signature style blah and blah, but just calling a spade a spade – this bling fest overdose is fatiguing aftre a point and does them great disservice, its just that no one points this out.
These OTT outfits used to be worn by folks of Lucknow and Hyderabad a while ago and were the norm. Some folks love minimalism and some love to be maximalist in their individual dressing. Some choose to sport their culture. I rather take this over the same ole same ole. One should note that it mostly the folks who have a signature style that are the ones that are more memorable.
Yeah, I see what you say. And wasn’t aware of the history behind, thanks for taking the time to explain!
Huh! These are traditional Indian weaves and worn in Classic style . Enough said !!
It’s a little embarrassing that I grew up in Hyderabad yet never heard of the “chaugoshia”. Rekha looks splendid in it!
I wouldn’t mind if this tradition is revived as a trend.
Already been around as a trend since a decade or even more. Done-to-death by Anamika Khanna. Others too followed.
Wish Rekha had used an actual khada dupatta instead of this sari. or maybe she should have just pinned the border to make sure the white fall doesnt face outwards.
eagle eyed!
What is chatta patti?
I googled and diagonal multicolour borders/prints are chatta patti as per my opinion. This gharara doesn’t have those diagonal print or borders. Pls correct if I am wrong.
Nop you are right. In my excitement to seeing someone wear a traditional farshi gharara, I included the whole thing…
Love both the traditional looks. It seems Chaugoshia was popular amongst women of Hyderabad in the 50s and 60s from what my mother tells me. The gharara though is not chata patti, which is more of patches of coloured silk pieced together but farshi is the correct description.
nobody does Chaugoshia like Rekha! Frashis are actually a default wear in Pakistan. I wore one for Eid!
Pristine white & Gold- what is not to love!!
The colorful gharara- again what is not to love!
Both ladies rocked their look!!
