In Marchesa

Wearing a Marchesa dress, Sharvari attended the premiere of 83 on Wednesday evening. Overall she looked nice, just wish, given the length of the dress, she’d worn white pumps instead of those sandals.

  1. Marchesa as a brand has really spiraled down if B-grade Bollywood actors are able to access the label. Sounds harsh but a fashion blog should allow such discussions.

    • Google her name. You’ll know who she’s connected to in politics and therefore how she perhaps had access to Bollywood. Need money for clothes/stylist, not star status..

But also, bro, she’s had one movie come out which is under Yash Raj, so “B grade
” is a bit harsh no?

    • Do you not hear what you sound like? Marchesa as a brand won’t be tainted because a “lesser” known actress is wearing their dress. Fashion doesn’t necessarily have to be elitist like that. Your comment reeks of jealousy and that is not a good colour on you.

    • How about “up & coming” or the “next hottest thing”… a very pretty girl, if she is talented she will go places. Looks like Marchesa are aware of this fact.

    • Your comment is so rude! Calling a new actress “B-grade” (or calling anyone that) is uncalled for. Your comment is not a fashion critique and therefore inappropriate for a discussion on a fashion blog. Are only certain people worthy of wearing Marchesa?

    • This is such a weird comment – and wrong on so many levels!

“Marchesa as a brand” spiraled down with the whole Harvey Weinstein thing. The only reason it is still around is only because of Chapman’s connections in the right places and the fashion industry’s overall attitude of ignoring all that is wrong for profits.
The only reason it ever gained prominence was because the A-listers were being asked to wear Marchesa while promoting their movies because the production studio bankrolling the movie happened to have ties to the Marchesa designer.
So I would not consider Marchesa as a measure of how successful or unsuccessful is at this point of time.
Keeping all that aside, calling a new, up and coming actress “B-grade” is quite rude and elitist.

  2. I think the sandals are a good choice here, since the dress is just a wee bit too long on her. Pumps would have visually ‘closed off’ the look.

  3. Another beautiful Indian actress!

Ah the design house is a Brit affectionately known Mrs. Harvey Weinstein, and perhaps amongst the biggest “borrowers” of traditional Indian ideas, drapes and aesthetic, reselling into gowns and dresses in recent years. Indians should qualify for a discount!!

  4. I think the sandals are a good choice here. White pumps would’ve cut her off and can look very 80s and dated. Not many people can pull it off. She looks great here.
